Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil or crayons
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
-
Start by discussing magic and magicians with your student. Ask them what they know about magic and what they find interesting about it.
-
Introduce a list of magic-related words to your student, such as "wand," "spell," "illusion," "trick," and "enchant." Write each word on a separate piece of paper.
-
Have your student practice spelling each word by sounding out the letters and writing them down. Encourage them to use their best handwriting.
-
Once your student has finished spelling all the words, go over each word's meaning and have them repeat it back to you.
-
For a fun twist, ask your student to create their own magic-related word and spell it out. They can use their imagination and make up a word that sounds magical.
-
Finally, have your student draw a picture related to magic and write the word they created underneath. This will reinforce their spelling and allow for creativity.
