Materials and Prep

Activities
- Read a Black history book: Start the lesson by reading a book about Black history to the student. Choose a book that highlights important figures or events.
- Research a famous Black person: Using the computer or tablet, guide the student to explore and research a famous Black person. Encourage them to find out about their achievements, contributions, and why they are important in history.
- Create a mini biography: Help the student write a mini biography about the famous Black person they researched. They can include important facts, drawings, or even cut out pictures from magazines.
- Share and discuss: Have the student share their mini biography with you. Engage in a discussion about the person they researched, their impact on society, and why they are celebrated during Black history month.
- Optional worksheet activity: If available, provide Black history month worksheets for the student to complete. These can include coloring pages, word searches, or simple quizzes related to Black history.
