Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to write a short paragraph about the Fall season using descriptive words.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil or crayons
- Fall-themed pictures or objects (optional)
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a basic understanding of the Fall season and its characteristics.
Activities
- Introduction: Begin by discussing the Fall season with your student. Talk about the changes in weather, the colors of the leaves, and any other unique features of Fall. Show them pictures or objects related to Fall to spark their interest.
- Brainstorming: Ask your student to think of words that describe Fall. Write down their ideas on a piece of paper or a whiteboard. Encourage them to use descriptive words such as "crispy," "colorful," "cool," "pumpkin," etc.
- Writing Practice: Have your student write a short paragraph about the Fall season using the descriptive words they brainstormed. Remind them to use proper sentence structure and punctuation. If needed, provide sentence starters like "In Fall, I see..." or "The leaves are..."
- Illustration: After writing the paragraph, encourage your student to draw a picture that represents the Fall season. They can use their imagination or refer to the pictures or objects you showed them earlier.
- Sharing and Discussion: Allow your student to share their paragraph and illustration with you. Ask them questions about their writing and encourage them to explain their choices of descriptive words.
