Before the lesson, familiarize yourself with the picture books and prepare any additional props or materials you may need.
Activities
- Storytime - Choose a picture book that the toddler is interested in. Read aloud the story, pausing occasionally to ask questions and encourage conversation about the illustrations and characters.
- Puppet Show - Use puppets or stuffed animals to act out a short skit or story. Encourage the toddler to participate by speaking for the puppets or interacting with the characters.
- Drawing and Talking - Provide the toddler with paper and crayons. Ask them to draw a picture of something they like or something from the story. Engage them in conversation about their drawing, asking questions and prompting them to describe what they have drawn.
- Word Association Game - Set a timer for a short period of time, such as one minute. Choose a category, such as animals or fruits, and take turns with the toddler naming as many words as possible within the time limit. Encourage the toddler to say the words out loud.

- "Books are fun to read! Let's look at the pictures and talk about what we see."
- "Can you help me make the puppet talk? What do you think it would say?"
- "Tell me about your drawing. What colors did you use? What is happening in your picture?"
- "Let's play a game where we say words that belong to the same group. Can you think of any animals?"
