Objective
By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to demonstrate basic library skills related to dinosaurs.
Materials and Prep
- Dinosaur books from the library
- Index cards
- Writing utensils
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Introduce the concept of a library and explain that it is a place where we can find books about dinosaurs.
- Visit the library and help the toddler select a few dinosaur books of their choice.
- Read one of the dinosaur books together and discuss the different types of dinosaurs mentioned.
- Ask the toddler to choose their favorite dinosaur from the book and write its name on an index card.
- Encourage the toddler to draw a picture of the chosen dinosaur on the other side of the index card.
- Help the toddler locate the dinosaur book section in the library and show them how to place their index card inside the corresponding book.
- Repeat steps 4-6 for the remaining dinosaur books.
- Encourage the toddler to explore other areas of the library and discover other books or activities related to dinosaurs.

- "Let's go to the library and pick out some dinosaur books to read."
- "This book tells us about different types of dinosaurs. Can you find the ones we read about?"
