Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to creatively decorate a pumpkin using various art techniques and appreciate the artistic value of pumpkin decorations.

Materials and Prep

  • A pumpkin
  • A carving knife or pumpkin decorating kit

Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a clean and safe workspace to work on your pumpkin. Also, gather all the materials listed above.

Activities

  1. Choose a design or theme for your pumpkin decoration. It could be a traditional Halloween theme, a favorite character, or any other creative idea you have in mind.
  2. If you want to carve your pumpkin, carefully cut off the top and scoop out the seeds and pulp. Remember to be cautious while using the knife and ask for adult supervision if needed.
  3. If you prefer not to carve, you can paint your pumpkin directly. Use acrylic paints and brushes to create your desired design. Let the paint dry before moving on to the next step.
  4. Add details and embellishments to your pumpkin using markers, glitter, or any other decorative materials you have. Get creative and make your design stand out!
