Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and locate the seven continents on a world map.

Materials and Prep

  • World map (printed or drawn)
  • Coloring pencils or markers
  • Blank piece of paper

Activities

  1. Start by showing the world map to the student and explain that the world is divided into continents.

  2. Ask the student to name any continent they know. Write it down on the blank piece of paper.

  3. Using the coloring pencils or markers, have the student color the continent they named on the world map.

  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for a few more continents, encouraging the student to name as many as they can.

  5. After coloring multiple continents, guide the student to locate and color the remaining continents on the map.

  • "Continents are large areas of land on Earth. Can you name any continents you know?"
  • "Great job! Let's color the continent you named on the world map."
  • "Can you think of any other continents? Let's color them too!"
  • "We have colored a few continents. Now, let's find and color the rest of the continents."
