Before starting the lesson, make sure the student is familiar with basic reading skills such as letter recognition and phonics.
Activities
- Read the short story "Trick or Treat" aloud to the student.
- Ask the student to identify and circle any Halloween-related words in the story.
- Discuss the main characters and setting of the story. Have the student draw a picture of their favorite character or scene.
- Ask the student to retell the story in their own words. Encourage them to use complete sentences.
- Compose a list of questions related to the story. Have the student answer the questions orally or in writing.
