Objective
The objective of this lesson is for the student to explore and appreciate visual arts through the story "The House That Witchy Built" and create their own witch-themed artwork.
Materials and Prep
- Storybook: "The House That Witchy Built"
- Art supplies: paper, crayons, markers, colored pencils
- Optional: glue, scissors, construction paper
Before starting the lesson, familiarize yourself with the story and prepare the art supplies for the activities.
Activities
- Read the story "The House That Witchy Built" together. Discuss the illustrations and ask the student to describe what they see.
- After reading, encourage the student to draw their own witch-themed house. They can use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to bring their imagination to life. Remind them to include details like windows, doors, and other witchy elements.
- If the student is interested, they can cut out their house drawing and glue it onto a larger piece of construction paper to create a background. They can also add other elements like trees, a moon, or a witch flying on a broomstick using additional art supplies.
- Once the artwork is complete, have the student share their creation with you. Ask them to explain their choices and what they like most about their witch-themed house.
