Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the basics of the reproductive system and genetics.
Materials and Prep
- Pen or pencil
- Blank paper or notebook
- Internet access (optional)
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
-
Draw and label the male and female reproductive systems.
Using your pen or pencil and paper, draw the male and female reproductive systems. Label the different parts of each system, such as the ovaries, uterus, testes, and penis. You can use online resources or textbooks to help you if needed.
-
Play a game of "Genetic Traits Bingo".
Create a bingo card with various genetic traits, such as eye color, hair color, and height. Write down different combinations of these traits in each box. Then, take turns with a family member or friend calling out traits. If you have that trait on your bingo card, mark it. The first person to get a line or a full card wins!
-
Research and present on a genetic disorder.
Choose a genetic disorder that interests you, such as Down syndrome or cystic fibrosis. Use the internet or library resources to research and gather information about the disorder. Create a short presentation to share what you have learned with your family or homeschool group.
Third Grade Talking Points
