Materials and Prep
- Blindfold
- Various objects with different textures (e.g. cotton ball, sandpaper, feather, marble)
- Various scented items (e.g. lemon, cinnamon, mint)
- Various tasting samples (e.g. apple slice, cracker, chocolate)
- Various objects with different sounds (e.g. bell, shaker, whistle)
- Chart paper and markers
No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities

Activity 1: Sense of Touch
1. Blindfold yourself and have a partner hand you different objects with different textures.
2. Try to identify the texture of each object without looking.
3. Discuss your observations with your partner.

Activity 2: Sense of Smell
1. Close your eyes and have a partner bring different scented items close to your nose, one at a time.
2. Try to identify the scent of each item without looking.
3. Discuss your observations with your partner.

Activity 3: Sense of Taste
1. Blindfold yourself and have a partner give you small tasting samples.
2. Try to identify the taste of each sample without looking.
3. Discuss your observations with your partner.

Activity 4: Sense of Hearing
1. Close your eyes and have a partner make different sounds using objects.
2. Try to identify the source of each sound without looking.
3. Discuss your observations with your partner.
