Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to recognize and write numbers 1-10 and spell their corresponding words.

Materials and Prep

  • Writing materials (pencil, crayons, markers)
  • Blank paper or worksheets with numbers 1-10

Activities

  1. Number Recognition: Show the student flashcards with numbers 1-10. Have the student name each number as you show them. Repeat this activity until the student can confidently recognize all the numbers.

  2. Number Writing: Give the student a blank paper or worksheet with numbers 1-10. Instruct them to trace each number with a pencil or crayon. Encourage them to say the number out loud as they trace it. Repeat this activity a few times to practice writing the numbers.

  3. Spelling Practice: Write each number word (one, two, three, etc.) on separate pieces of paper or flashcards. Shuffle the cards and ask the student to pick one at a time. Have them spell the number word out loud and write it down on their paper. Repeat this activity until the student can spell all the number words correctly.

  4. Number Order: Write the numbers 1-10 on separate pieces of paper or flashcards. Mix them up and ask the student to put them in the correct numerical order. Encourage them to say the numbers out loud as they arrange them. Repeat this activity a few times to reinforce number sequencing.
