Objective
By the end of this lesson, the Kindergarten student will be able to understand and apply basic arithmetic concepts through fun Disney princess-themed activities.
Materials and Prep
- Disney princess-themed flashcards (with numbers and princess pictures)
- Counting objects (e.g., small princess figurines, princess-themed stickers)
- Whiteboard or paper and markers
- Printed worksheets with simple addition and subtraction problems (e.g., princess-themed coloring sheets with math equations)
Activities
-
Counting Princesses: Show the student the Disney princess flashcards and ask them to count the number of princesses on each card. Encourage them to name the princesses as they count.
-
Princess Addition: Use the counting objects (e.g., princess figurines) and ask the student to add different numbers of princesses together. For example, ask them to add 2 princesses and 3 princesses, and have them count the total number of princesses.
-
Princess Subtraction: Using the same counting objects, ask the student to subtract princesses. For example, ask them to start with 5 princesses and remove 2 princesses, and have them count how many are left.
-
Princess Math Worksheets: Provide the student with the printed worksheets and guide them through simple addition and subtraction problems. Encourage them to use the princess-themed coloring sheets to make it more engaging.
