Objective

By the end of this lesson, Oscar and Billy will be able to explore and learn about ancient Egypt through their visit to the WA museum Boola Bardip.

Materials and Prep

  • Preparation: Research and gather information about ancient Egypt to share with the students

Activities

  1. Introduction: Begin the day by discussing the significance of ancient Egypt in world history. Talk about the pyramids, pharaohs, and their unique culture.
  2. Museum Exploration: Visit the WA museum Boola Bardip and head to the ancient Egypt exhibit. Encourage Oscar and Billy to observe and take notes on the artifacts and displays they find interesting.
  3. Artifact Analysis: After exploring the exhibit, gather around a designated area and have a discussion about the artifacts they saw. Ask them questions like:
    • What did you find most fascinating about the ancient Egyptian artifacts?
    • How do you think these artifacts were used in ancient Egypt?
    • What can we learn about ancient Egyptian society from these artifacts?
  4. Hands-on Activity: Engage the students in a hands-on activity related to ancient Egypt. For example, they can create their own mini pyramids using clay or construct a paper mummy.
  5. Reflection: Wrap up the lesson by allowing Oscar and Billy to share their favorite discoveries and what they have learned about ancient Egypt during their museum visit.
