Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to spell words related to gutting old houses accurately.

Activities

  1. Word Search: Create a word search puzzle with words related to gutting old houses. Include terms such as demolition, renovation, debris, foundation, etc. Give the student the word search and have them find and circle the words. Once completed, review the words together and discuss their meanings.
  2. Spelling Bee: Provide the student with a list of challenging words related to gutting old houses. Have them practice spelling each word aloud. You can also use flashcards or a spelling app for this activity. Encourage the student to use mnemonic devices or break down the words into syllables to help with spelling.
  3. Writing Exercise: Ask the student to write a descriptive paragraph about the process of gutting an old house. Instruct them to use as many words related to the topic as possible. Once they are done, review their paragraph together, identifying any spelling errors and discussing alternative word choices.
