By the end of this lesson, you will be able to apply statistical concepts to analyze data related to the Lord of the Rings series.

  • Access to the Lord of the Rings books or movies
  • Basic understanding of mean, median, and mode

Activities

  1. Create a Character Height Chart:

    Using the Lord of the Rings books or movies, collect the heights of various characters. Make a chart to record the heights and calculate the mean, median, and mode of the heights.

  2. Favorite Character Survey:

    Conduct a survey among your friends or family members to find out their favorite Lord of the Rings character. Record the data and create a bar graph to represent the results. Analyze the data and discuss which character is the most popular.

  3. Battle Statistics Analysis:

    Research the battle scenes in the Lord of the Rings series and collect data on the number of casualties for each side. Use the data to create a line graph showing the trend of casualties throughout the battles. Analyze the graph and discuss any patterns or trends you observe.
