Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the importance of taking care of the environment and identify simple ways to protect it.

Materials and Prep

  • Recyclable materials (plastic bottles, paper, cardboard, etc.)
  • Colored markers or crayons
  • Scissors
  • Tape or glue
  • Access to a nearby outdoor area (such as a backyard or park)

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Create a Recycling Craft

Collect recyclable materials from your home and sort them into different categories (plastic, paper, cardboard, etc.). Then, using the materials, create a fun craft such as a robot or a flower. Use your creativity and have fun while reusing materials that would otherwise go to waste.

  2. Nature Walk

Take a walk in the nearby outdoor area and observe the environment around you. Look for different plants, trees, and animals. Talk about how these living things are a part of our environment and why it is important to protect them. Take pictures or draw pictures of the things you see to create a nature journal.
