Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and describe different types of dinosaurs through reading and comprehension.
Materials and Prep
- Books or online resources about dinosaurs
- Writing materials (pencil, crayons, markers)
- Printed dinosaur coloring pages
Activities
-
Introduce the concept of dinosaurs to the student by reading a dinosaur-themed book together. Encourage the student to ask questions and engage in discussions about dinosaurs.
-
After reading, ask the student to choose their favorite dinosaur from the book. Have them draw and color a picture of the dinosaur, and help them write the name of the dinosaur below their drawing.
-
Provide the student with a few more dinosaur books or online resources. Allow them to explore and read independently, encouraging them to identify and learn about different types of dinosaurs.
-
Once the student has gathered information about different dinosaurs, engage in a discussion about their findings. Ask questions like "What is the biggest dinosaur you learned about?" or "Can you tell me something interesting about the dinosaur you liked the most?"
-
Finish the lesson by giving the student a dinosaur coloring page to color. While they color, encourage them to talk about the colors they are using and describe their dinosaur.
