Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to build your own nutcracker using only the materials provided.

Materials and Prep

  • Wooden dowels
  • Wooden blocks
  • Paint and paintbrushes
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Markers or colored pencils
  • Reference images of nutcrackers

Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a clear workspace and gather all the necessary materials. It may be helpful to have reference images of nutcrackers for inspiration.

Activities

  1. Design your nutcracker: Use markers or colored pencils to sketch out your nutcracker design on a piece of paper. Think about the shape, facial features, and any additional details you want to include.
  2. Construct the body: Take a wooden block and glue a wooden dowel to the back of it. This will serve as the body and the handle of your nutcracker.
  3. Add the head: Use another wooden block to create the head of your nutcracker. Glue it to the top end of the dowel.
  4. Paint and decorate: Once the glue has dried, paint your nutcracker using the colors of your choice. You can also add additional decorations using paint, markers, or any other materials you have available.
  5. Finishing touches: Once the paint has dried, you can add final details such as facial features, hair, or any other embellishments you desire.
