Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and use basic English grammar concepts through fun LEGO-related activities.

Materials and Prep

Materials: LEGO bricks of various shapes and sizes

Prep: None

Activities

1. LEGO Noun Hunt: Hide LEGO bricks around the room and have the student find and identify them as people, places, or things (nouns).

2. LEGO Verb Action: Encourage the student to build LEGO scenes of actions (verbs) and describe what is happening in each scene.

3. LEGO Adjective Sorting: Ask the student to sort LEGO bricks by color, size, and shape, and then describe each group using adjectives.

Toddler Grade Talking Points

  • "Nouns are words for people, places, or things. Can you find a LEGO person, a LEGO house, or a LEGO car?"
  • "Verbs are action words. What is the LEGO person doing? Are they building, jumping, or running?"
  • "Adjectives describe things. How would you describe this big red LEGO brick? What about the small blue LEGO brick?"
