Objective

By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to recognize and name different types of dinosaurs and understand basic information about them.

Materials and Prep

Materials: Dinosaur picture book, dinosaur toys or figurines, paper and crayons.

Prep: Familiarize yourself with basic dinosaur names and characteristics.

Activities

1. Dinosaur Picture Book: Read a dinosaur picture book together and point out different types of dinosaurs. Ask the toddler to repeat the names and make the dinosaur sounds.

2. Dinosaur Toys Exploration: Let the toddler play with dinosaur toys or figurines and ask them to name the dinosaurs they are playing with.

3. Dinosaur Drawing: Have the toddler draw their favorite dinosaur on paper and ask them to describe the dinosaur's features.

  • "This is a T-Rex. It's a big dinosaur with sharp teeth. Can you roar like a T-Rex?"
  • "Stegosaurus has big plates on its back. It's like a spiky dinosaur. Can you show me how a stegosaurus walks?"
  • "Look, this is a Brachiosaurus. It's a very tall dinosaur with a long neck. Can you reach up high like a Brachiosaurus?"
