Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to analyze and interpret the lyrics of a Bruno Mars song, and understand the literary devices used in the songwriting.

Materials and Prep

No prior knowledge is necessary, just an interest in Bruno Mars' music and lyrics.

Activities

  1. Listen to a Bruno Mars song of your choice and read the lyrics. Pay attention to the storytelling and emotions conveyed in the song.
  2. Identify and write down any literary devices used in the song, such as similes, metaphors, or personification.
  3. Research the background and inspiration behind the song. What message is the artist trying to convey?
  4. Write a short analysis of the song, discussing the themes, emotions, and literary devices used. Be prepared to share your analysis with the class.
