Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and apply basic arithmetic concepts through fun bounce house activities.
Materials and Prep
Materials: Bounce house, number cards (0-10), small balls or bean bags
Prep: Set up the bounce house and place the number cards inside.
Activities
1. Bounce and Count: Jump in the bounce house and count out loud from 1 to 10. Each jump represents a number.
2. Number Catch: Toss the small balls or bean bags in the air and catch them. Each time you catch a ball, say a number out loud.
3. Number Hunt: Search for the number cards hidden in the bounce house. Once found, arrange them in the correct order.
First Grade Talking Points
- "Let's count as we jump in the bounce house. 1, 2, 3, and so on! Each jump is a number!"
- "Now let's toss the ball and catch it. Every time we catch it, we say a number. Ready, toss and catch!"
- "Can you find the number cards hidden in the bounce house? Let's arrange them in order from 0 to 10."
