Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to create their own Animal Crossing inspired artwork using basic drawing and coloring techniques.

Materials and Prep

Materials:

  • Blank paper
  • Pencils
  • Coloring materials (crayons, markers, or colored pencils)

Prep:

  • Familiarize yourself with the characters and elements from Animal Crossing.

Activities

1. Start by discussing the different characters and elements in Animal Crossing. Talk about the types of animals, buildings, and nature scenes that are found in the game.

2. Have the student choose their favorite character or scene from the game and sketch it lightly on the paper using a pencil.

3. Encourage the student to add details and then color their drawing using the coloring materials.

Third Grade Talking Points

  • Animals in Animal Crossing are like the people in our community. They live in houses and have their own hobbies and personalities. You can say, "Just like we have different friends in our neighborhood, the animals in Animal Crossing have their own unique personalities and interests."
  • When we draw, we can use shapes and lines to create the characters and scenes we like. You can say, "We can use circles for heads, ovals for bodies, and lines to make arms and legs. It's like putting together a puzzle to create our drawing."
  • Coloring our drawing makes it come to life. You can say, "Just like how we see different colors in nature, we can use colors to make our drawing look vibrant and exciting."
