Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and apply basic arithmetic concepts while baking cookies.
Materials and Prep
Materials: Mixing bowl, measuring cups and spoons, cookie ingredients (flour, sugar, butter, etc.), cookie cutters, baking sheet, oven.
Prep: Pre-measure the ingredients and preheat the oven.
Activities
1. Counting Ingredients: Count the number of cups of flour, teaspoons of sugar, etc. as you add them to the mixing bowl.
2. Measuring: Use measuring cups and spoons to measure the ingredients and discuss the concept of "more" and "less".
3. Shapes and Sizes: Use cookie cutters of different shapes and sizes and discuss concepts of big, small, round, and square.
4. Baking Time: Discuss the concept of time as the cookies bake in the oven, and count down the minutes together.
