By the end of this lesson, you will be able to read and understand a simple Lego-themed story, and answer basic comprehension questions about the story.
Materials and Prep
- Lego-themed storybook
- Construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Markers or crayons
No special preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Read the Lego-themed storybook together.
- Create a Lego scene.
- Retell the story using the Lego scene.
- Ask comprehension questions.
Read the story aloud to your student, pointing to the words as you read. Encourage them to follow along with their finger.
Using construction paper, scissors, and glue stick, help your student create a scene from the story using paper cutouts. They can draw and color the Lego characters and objects. Talk about the different elements of the scene as you work together.
Ask your student to use their Lego scene to retell the story in their own words. Encourage them to include key details and events from the story.
Ask your student simple comprehension questions about the story, such as "Who were the main characters?" or "What happened at the beginning/middle/end of the story?" This will help assess their understanding of the story and their ability to recall information.
