First Grade Talking Points
- Penguins are birds that cannot fly. They swim in the water instead. You can say, "Penguins are special birds that love to swim in the water, but they can't fly like other birds. They have to waddle and slide on their bellies to move around on land."
- Penguins live in cold places like Antarctica. You can say, "Penguins live in a very cold place called Antarctica. They have special feathers to keep them warm and safe from the cold."
- Penguins eat fish and other small sea creatures. You can say, "Penguins love to eat fish and other yummy things they find in the sea. They are great hunters in the water!"
