Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand the concept of citizenship and government by relating it to the TV show "Young Sheldon."

Materials and Prep

Materials needed: TV or computer with access to "Young Sheldon."

Prep: Familiarize yourself with the episode of "Young Sheldon" that will be watched and prepare discussion questions related to citizenship and government.

Activities

1. Watch an episode of "Young Sheldon" together, focusing on how the characters interact with rules, laws, and authority figures.

2. Discuss the episode and ask questions such as: What rules did the characters follow? How did they interact with authority figures? What are the similarities and differences between the government in the show and the real government?

  • "Citizenship means being a member of a community and following its rules. In 'Young Sheldon,' the characters follow rules at school and at home, just like we do in our community."
