By the end of this lesson, the student will have an understanding of traditional Puerto Rican music and its significance in the culture of Puerto Rico.

Activities

1. Watch a video about traditional Puerto Rican music and dance.

2. Listen to a popular Puerto Rican song and try to dance along to the rhythm.

3. Learn about the different musical instruments used in Puerto Rican music, such as the cuatro and the güiro.

  • There are special instruments that are popular in Puerto Rican music, like the cuatro and the güiro. You can say, "Just like how you have toys to play with, Puerto Ricans have special instruments to make music and have fun."
