Lesson Activities:

1. Dino Definitions (15-20 minutes)

Just like scientists study dinosaur bones, you're going to study these words! Look up each word on your list in a dictionary. Write down a clear, concise definition for each word in your notebook. Try to put the definition in your own words after reading the official one.

2. Word Lab: Sentence Synthesis (20-25 minutes)

Now, let's bring these words to life! Write one original sentence for each spelling word. Try to make your sentences interesting and creative. You can even make them related to the Jurassic World movies if you like! For example: 'The bioengineering techniques used to create the dinosaurs had unforeseen consequences.' Make sure you are using the word correctly based on its definition.

3. Prehistoric Proofreading (10 minutes)

Review the sentences you wrote. Check carefully for correct spelling of the vocabulary words and any other words in your sentences. Read them aloud to see if they make sense.

4. Creative Challenge: Dominion Dispatch (20-30 minutes)

Imagine you are a character in the 'Jurassic World: Dominion' universe (a scientist, a park ranger, a journalist, etc.). Write a short journal entry, news report, or descriptive paragraph (about 100-150 words) about a specific event or observation involving dinosaurs living in the modern world. You MUST use at least ten words from your spelling list correctly in your writing. Underline the spelling words you use.

We will review your definitions, sentences, and your creative writing piece together. We'll check for:
