Materials and Prep

Materials:

  • Cardboard boxes
  • Markers or paint
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Paper cups
  • Straws

Prep:

  • Prepare the cardboard boxes by cutting them into smaller pieces for building the robot.
  • Gather all the materials and have them ready for the activities.

Activities

1. Design Your Robot:
Use the markers or paint to decorate the cardboard pieces to create the robot's body, arms, and legs.

2. Assemble Your Robot:
Use tape to attach the cardboard pieces together to form the robot's body and use straws and paper cups for arms and legs.

3. Test Your Robot:
Once the robot is assembled, test its ability to stand and move around. Experiment with different designs to see what works best.

Kindergarten Grade Talking Points

  • Robots are machines that can do work and move around. They can be made from different materials like cardboard and cups.
  • We can use our imagination to design and build our own robots. What kind of robot would you like to build?
  • We can use different shapes and colors to make our robot look interesting. What colors do you want to use for your robot?
  • When we build a robot, we can test how it moves and stands. What do you think your robot will be able to do?
