Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to improve your reading skills while engaging in fun activities such as crafts, baking, gardening, writing, and drawing.

Materials and Prep

  • Reading materials (books, magazines, or online articles)
  • Paper and pencils
  • Art supplies (crayons, markers, colored pencils)
  • Baking ingredients (optional)
  • Gardening tools (optional)

Activities

  1. Reading and Crafts:

    Select a book or article that interests you. Read it carefully and choose a favorite character or scene. Create a craft related to that character or scene using the art supplies.

  2. Baking and Reading:

    Select a recipe from a cookbook or find one online. Read the recipe step by step, and then bake the delicious treat. Enjoy your creation while continuing to read a book of your choice.

  3. Gardening and Writing:

    Plant some seeds or take care of your existing garden. Observe the plants' growth and write a journal entry about your gardening experience. Include details about what you did, what you observed, and how you felt.

  4. Drawing and Reading:

    Choose a favorite scene or character from a book. Use your drawing skills to illustrate that scene or character. Write a short paragraph explaining why you chose that particular scene or character.
