Objective

By the end of this lesson, the homeschool student will be able to analyze and interpret geographic information within a reading passage.

Materials and Prep

  • Reading passage with geographic information
  • Paper and pencil

Activities

  1. Read the provided passage aloud or have the student read it silently.

  2. Ask the student to identify any geographic information mentioned in the passage.

  3. Have the student write down the geographic information they identified on a piece of paper.

  4. Discuss the importance of geographic information in understanding the context of a reading passage.

  5. Ask the student to analyze and interpret the geographic information they identified. Encourage them to think about how it impacts the overall meaning of the passage.

  6. Engage in a discussion with the student about their analysis and interpretation. Encourage them to provide evidence from the passage to support their ideas.
