Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to demonstrate their skills in drawing, painting, and crafts by completing a creative project.

Materials and Prep

  • Drawing paper
  • Pencils
  • Erasers
  • Watercolor paints
  • Paintbrushes
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Colored construction paper
  • Any additional craft materials the student prefers
  • A clean and well-lit workspace

Before starting the lesson, make sure the student has a basic understanding of drawing techniques and is familiar with handling paints and craft materials.

Activities

  1. Warm-up Drawing Exercise: Start the lesson with a quick warm-up drawing exercise. Ask the student to draw their favorite animal using only simple shapes (circles, triangles, squares) as a base. Encourage them to be creative and add details to their drawing.
  2. Watercolor Painting: Introduce the student to watercolor painting. Demonstrate basic techniques such as wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and layering colors. Encourage them to experiment with different brush strokes and color combinations. Provide a reference image or let them choose their own subject to paint.
  3. Craft Project: Guide the student in creating a craft project using the drawing and painting skills they have learned. For example, they can make a 3D paper sculpture, a handmade greeting card, or a collage using cut-out drawings and painted elements. Encourage them to incorporate their own ideas and personal style into the project.
