Materials and Prep

  • Pen and paper
  • Access to a computer or library for research
  • Prior knowledge of the Roman Empire

Activities

  1. Research Roman Generals

Have the student research different Roman Generals and their contributions to the Roman Empire. They can use books, online resources, or any other available sources. Encourage them to take notes and write down interesting facts about each general.

  2. Create a Roman General Profile

Based on their research, ask the student to choose one Roman General that they find particularly interesting. Instruct them to create a profile for that general, including their name, background, notable achievements, and their impact on the Roman Empire. They can use their notes from the research to complete the profile.

  3. Present the Roman General Profile

Give the student an opportunity to present their Roman General profile to the class or a family member. They should include key information about the general and explain why they find them fascinating. Encourage them to use visual aids or props to make the presentation engaging.

  4. Design a Roman General Workout

Explain to the student that Roman Generals needed to be physically fit to lead their armies. Ask them to design a workout routine that incorporates exercises inspired by the activities and training of Roman soldiers. They can include exercises like lunges, squats, push-ups, and running. Encourage them to be creative and make the workout enjoyable.

  5. Try the Roman General Workout

Have the student try out the workout routine they designed. They can do it themselves or invite family members to join in. Make sure they warm up properly before starting and cool down afterward. Monitor their form and encourage them throughout the workout.
