Objective

  1. Introduction to Roman Numerals:

    Start by discussing the significance of Roman numerals in the Roman Empire. Show the student the Roman numeral chart and explain the basic symbols and their corresponding values.

  2. Converting Roman Numerals to Arabic Numerals:

    Provide the student with a few examples of Roman numerals and guide them through the process of converting them into Arabic numerals. Encourage them to practice on their own using the chart.

  3. Performing Addition and Subtraction:

    Explain the rules for adding and subtracting Roman numerals. Demonstrate a few examples and give the student practice problems to solve. Provide guidance and feedback as needed.

    Discuss how Roman numerals are still used today, such as in the representation of years on buildings, movie credits, or clock faces. Encourage the student to identify and share other examples they come across.
