Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to apply arithmetic concepts to solve real-life problems related to the game "My Summer Car".

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and pencil
  • Calculator (optional)
  • Prior knowledge of basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

Activities

  1. Activity 1: Calculate the total cost of car parts

In the game "My Summer Car", the player needs to purchase various car parts to build their car. Provide the student with a list of car parts and their prices. Ask them to calculate the total cost of all the parts.

  2. Activity 2: Determine fuel consumption

In the game, the car consumes fuel while driving. Give the student information about the car's fuel consumption rate (e.g., X gallons per mile) and ask them to calculate how much fuel would be consumed for a given distance.

  3. Activity 3: Calculate total earnings

In "My Summer Car", the player can earn money by completing various tasks. Provide the student with a list of tasks and their corresponding earnings. Ask them to calculate the total amount of money they would earn by completing all the tasks.
