Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create useful objects from found materials.
Materials and Prep
- Assorted found materials (such as cardboard, plastic bottles, old newspapers, etc.)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Markers or paint
- Any necessary tools for working with the found materials (e.g., ruler, hole punch, etc.)
Make sure you have a designated workspace where you can safely work with the materials.
Activities
-
Brainstorming and Planning:
Think about different objects you could create using the found materials. Consider what you need in your daily life and how you can repurpose the materials to fulfill those needs. Make a list or sketch out your ideas.
-
Design and Construction:
Select one of your ideas and start gathering the necessary materials. Begin by creating a rough draft or outline of your object. Then, use the materials to bring your design to life. Cut, shape, and assemble the materials as needed. Use glue to secure the pieces together.
-
Finishing Touches:
Once your object is constructed, add any desired decorations or personal touches. You can use markers or paint to add color and make it visually appealing.
-
Show and Tell:
Share your creation with your family or friends. Explain the purpose of the object and how you made it using found materials.
