Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and name the states of the United States of America.

Materials and Prep

  • Printed map of the United States of America
  • Coloring pencils or markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Blank paper

Activities

  1. Introduce the United States of America to the student by showing them the printed map.
  2. Explain that the United States is made up of 50 states.
  3. Ask the student to color each state on the map using different colors.
  4. Help the student cut out each state separately.
  5. Guide the student in gluing each state onto a blank paper, arranging them in the shape of the United States.
  6. Review the names of the states with the student while pointing to each one on the paper.
