Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and use English grammar concepts related to sentence structure and parts of speech.

Materials and Prep

Activities

  • Activity 1: Sentence Building with Minecraft Blocks
  • Using your Minecraft blocks, build a sentence that includes a subject and a predicate. Take a picture of your sentence and write it down on paper. Share your sentence with your teacher or a family member.

  • Activity 2: Roblox Parts of Speech Hunt
  • Play Roblox and keep an eye out for different parts of speech in the game. Write down at least five nouns, five verbs, and five adjectives you encounter while playing. Discuss with your teacher or a family member why these words belong to their respective parts of speech.

  • Activity 3: Lego Storytelling Challenge
  • Use your Legos to create a scene or a character. Write a short story or a description using proper grammar and punctuation to accompany your creation. Share your story with your teacher or a family member.

  • Activity 4: Fun Facts Grammar Quiz
  • Research fun facts about your favorite topic, such as Minecraft, Roblox, or building. Create a quiz with questions about grammar and use your fun facts as the context for the questions. Challenge your teacher or a family member to take the quiz and discuss the correct answers together.
