Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to write a short story about Ninja Turtles using descriptive language and basic sentence structure.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencils or crayons
  • Optional: Ninja Turtle toys or pictures for inspiration

Activities

1. Draw your favorite Ninja Turtle: Encourage the student to choose their favorite Ninja Turtle and draw a picture of them. They can use colors and details to make their drawing more interesting.

2. Describe your Ninja Turtle: Ask the student to describe their Ninja Turtle using words. What does their Ninja Turtle look like? What are their special abilities? Can they think of any adjectives to describe their Ninja Turtle?

3. Create a story: Using their drawing and description, have the student create a short story about their Ninja Turtle. They can start with a simple sentence like "My Ninja Turtle's name is ____." and then add more details about their Ninja Turtle's adventures.

4. Read and share: Once the story is complete, have the student read it aloud and share it with someone else. They can also illustrate their story with additional drawings if they'd like.
