Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to improve your spelling skills while learning about Roman Gladiators.

Materials and Prep

  • Pen or pencil
  • Blank paper or notebook
  • Access to a computer or library for research (optional)

Activities

  • Create a Spelling Word List:

    Research and find 10 spelling words related to Roman Gladiators. Write each word on a separate piece of paper or in your notebook. Make sure to include their meanings and use them in sentences.

  • Word Search Puzzle:

    Create a word search puzzle using the spelling words you found. Include at least 15 other related words in the puzzle. Challenge yourself to find all the words!

  • Spelling Bee:

    Practice your spelling words by holding a spelling bee. Ask a family member or friend to be the judge and give you words to spell. Keep track of how many words you spell correctly.

  • Write a Gladiator Story:

    Use your spelling words to write an exciting story about a Roman Gladiator. Be creative and include as many of the spelling words as possible. Read your story aloud to someone and see if they can find the spelling words in your story.
