Materials and Prep

  • A blank map of the United States
  • A list of all 50 states and capitals
  • Pens or pencils

Before starting the lesson, make sure you have the materials ready and familiarize yourself with the list of states and capitals.

Activities

  • Label the States: Using the blank map of the United States, label each state with its corresponding capital. Take your time and refer to the list of states and capitals as needed.
  • Flashcards: Create flashcards with the names of the states on one side and their capitals on the other. Shuffle the deck and test yourself by flipping the cards and trying to match the state with its capital.
  • Online Quizzes: Look for online quizzes or interactive games that can help you practice identifying the states and capitals. There are many websites available that offer fun and educational geography quizzes.
