Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to write a short paragraph about Japan, demonstrating their understanding of basic writing skills and their knowledge of Japanese culture.

Activities

  • Activity 1: Introduction to Japan
    Ask the student to research and find interesting facts about Japan. They can use books or the internet for this. Encourage them to take notes on important points.
  • Activity 2: Writing a Paragraph
    Have the student use their notes to write a short paragraph about Japan. Remind them to include an introduction, supporting details, and a conclusion. Encourage creativity and expression in their writing.
  • Activity 3: Peer Review
    Pair the student with a sibling or another homeschool student. Have them exchange their paragraphs and provide constructive feedback to each other. Emphasize the importance of being kind and helpful in their feedback.
  • Activity 4: Final Draft
    After receiving feedback, ask the student to revise and edit their paragraph. Once they are satisfied with their work, have them write a final draft on a clean sheet of paper.
