Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand basic Japanese history concepts and use some useful Japanese phrases related to the subject.

Materials and Prep

Activities

  • Activity 1: Research Japanese History

    Encourage the student to use books or reliable online sources to research and learn about key events and figures in Japanese history. They can take notes and create a timeline or a short summary of their findings.

  • Activity 2: Create a Japanese History Quiz

    Ask the student to create a quiz with multiple-choice or short-answer questions about Japanese history. They can use their research findings to come up with interesting and challenging questions. After creating the quiz, they can exchange it with a family member or friend to test their knowledge.

  • Activity 3: Role Play

    Have the student imagine being a historical figure from Japanese history and write a short dialogue between themselves and another character. They can then act out the dialogue, practicing their pronunciation and intonation. Encourage them to use some basic Japanese phrases they have learned.
