Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to design and build their own unique Lego creation using their imagination and problem-solving skills.
Materials and Prep
- Lego bricks of various sizes and colors
- A large flat surface to build on
- A timer or clock to track time
- No specific prior knowledge is required
Activities
1. Free Build: Allow the student to freely build whatever they like using the Lego bricks provided. Encourage them to explore different shapes and structures.
2. Challenge Build: Set a timer for 10 minutes and ask the student to build a specific object, such as a spaceship or a house. This will help them practice quick thinking and problem-solving.
3. Story Building: Give the student a theme or a story prompt, such as "a day at the beach" or "a trip to outer space". Ask them to build a scene or characters related to the theme. This activity will stimulate their creativity and storytelling skills.
4. Collaborative Build: Pair the student with a sibling or a friend (if available) and ask them to work together to build something. This will encourage teamwork and communication.
