Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to set and achieve health goals for yourself.

Materials and Prep

  • Pen and paper
  • Chart or poster board

No prior knowledge or preparation is required.

Activities

  • Create a Health Goal Chart:
  • Using the chart or poster board, create a simple table with two columns. Label the first column as "Health Goals" and the second column as "Achievements". Think about what health goals you would like to achieve, such as eating more fruits and vegetables, exercising for 30 minutes every day, or getting enough sleep. Write down at least three goals in the first column.

  • Track Your Progress:
  • Every day, take a few minutes to track your progress towards your health goals. For each goal, write down what you did to work towards it and any achievements or milestones you reached. For example, if your goal is to eat more fruits and vegetables, write down the types of fruits and vegetables you ate each day.

  • Reflect and Celebrate:
  • At the end of each week, reflect on your progress. Look at your achievements and see how far you've come. Celebrate your successes by doing something fun, like going for a bike ride or having a healthy treat.

Talking Points

  • Setting Goals:
  • "Setting goals means deciding what you want to achieve. It's like having a target to aim for. Today, we will be setting health goals for ourselves."

  • Why Goals Are Important:
  • "Goals help us stay focused and motivated. They give us something to work towards and help us measure our progress. When we achieve our goals, it feels great!"

  • Examples of Health Goals:
  • "Some examples of health goals are eating more fruits and vegetables, exercising regularly, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, and taking care of our teeth."

  • Tracking Progress:
  • "Tracking progress means keeping track of what we are doing to reach our goals. It helps us see how well we are doing and if we need to make any changes. We can write down our progress in our Health Goal Chart."

  • Celebrating Achievements:
  • "When we achieve our goals or make progress towards them, it's important to celebrate. Celebrating means doing something special to recognize our hard work and success. It can be as simple as treating ourselves to a fun activity or a healthy snack."
