Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and create different line patterns using thick and thin lines on egg shapes.

Materials and Prep

  • Plain white paper
  • Pencil
  • Black marker or pen
  • Coloring materials (crayons, colored pencils, or markers)

Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a clear workspace and all the materials ready.

Activities

  1. Draw different-sized egg shapes on your paper using a pencil. Make sure to draw them big enough to work on.

Use a black marker or pen to trace the outline of the egg shapes, making the lines thick and bold.

  2. Now, let's create some mixed line patterns on the egg shapes.

Start by drawing a thin straight line from one end of the egg to the other. Repeat this step, drawing more thin lines parallel to each other.

Next, draw a thick wavy line from top to bottom, crossing over the thin lines. Repeat this step, adding more thick wavy lines.

Continue adding different types of lines such as zigzags, dots, and curves to create a mixed line pattern on each egg shape.

  3. Once you are done with the line patterns, use your coloring materials to fill in the egg shapes with vibrant colors.

Be creative and experiment with different color combinations to make your artwork visually exciting.

Talking Points

  • Lines can be thick or thin. Thick lines are bold and stand out, while thin lines are delicate and lighter.

Try using different pressures when drawing with your marker or pen to create thick and thin lines.

  • Line patterns are made by repeating different types of lines in a specific arrangement.

For example, you can create a pattern by repeating thin straight lines parallel to each other, and then adding thick wavy lines that cross over them.

  • By mixing different types of lines, such as zigzags, dots, and curves, you can create interesting and unique line patterns.

Don't be afraid to experiment and come up with your own line patterns!

  • Coloring your artwork adds another layer of creativity and visual appeal.

Choose colors that you think will make your line patterns stand out and make your artwork look beautiful.
