Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to improve your English skills through craft activities and reading.

Materials and Prep

  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Markers or colored pencils
  • A book of your choice

Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a comfortable workspace and gather all the materials listed above.

Activities

  • Create a Story Collage: Cut out pictures from magazines or draw your own illustrations to create a collage that tells a story. Write sentences or captions to go along with each picture.
  • Design a Book Cover: Choose a book you love or one you want to create. Design a new book cover for it using construction paper, markers, and any other craft supplies you have. Write the title and author's name on the cover.
  • Write a Letter to a Character: Select a character from a book you've read or a character you create. Write a letter to that character, asking questions or sharing your thoughts and feelings about their story.
  • Create a Bookmark: Design and decorate your own bookmark using construction paper and markers. Make sure to include your name on it. You can also write a short quote or draw a picture related to your favorite book.
  • Read Aloud: Choose a book you enjoy and read a few pages aloud. Practice using expression and different voices for the characters. You can even record yourself reading and listen back to it.
