Materials and Prep
- Pen and paper
- World map or globe
- Access to online weather forecast
Activities
-
Start by discussing the importance of weather and geography in daily life. Ask the student to think about how weather affects their activities and how geography determines the climate of different regions.
-
Show the student a world map or globe and point out different countries. Ask them to locate Spanish-speaking countries and discuss their climates. Have them write down the names of these countries in Spanish.
-
Next, check the weather forecast online for a Spanish-speaking country. Discuss the current weather conditions and ask the student to describe them in Spanish. Encourage them to use weather-related vocabulary such as "soleado" (sunny), "lluvioso" (rainy), "nublado" (cloudy), "caluroso" (hot), and "frÃo" (cold).
-
Ask the student to create a mini weather report in Spanish. They can pretend to be a weather presenter and describe the weather conditions in a Spanish-speaking country. This can be done orally or in written form.
